Hiking Mammoth Cave National Park, Exploring Caverns And An RV Park Review

Mammoth Cave National Park In Kentucky While traveling south we took a few days to explore the Mammoth Cave National Park area in Kentucky. If you are not familiar with this area you should make some time to be. Mammoth Cave National Park is Kentucky’s oldest tourist attraction, a World Heritage Site, and International Biosphere Reserve with 53,000 acres of natural preserve and the longest cave system in the world with over 4000 miles of passages and 400 miles of mapped passageways. One thing we learned too late was to plan ahead, a few days before you get there is not enough time. It’s not your typical National Park where you can just go and explore the cave. Nope. Guided tours are given daily and are very popular. Reservations are not necessary but highly recommended, as certain tours will sell out quickly. Which is what we found out. We are not ones to enjoy exploring areas with huge crowds; school tours are very popular here. The most popular tour has a capacity of 118 people! Yup, you heard me right. 118 people, all trying to hear the tour guide. Kids everywhere. Not our idea of fun. A couple of the other tours seemed interesting and small enough, however, with there limited runs, they were sold out when we were there. That’s what we get for waiting til the last...

This Is From The Rally At Louisville Too

David With Flo From Progressive OK…So David reminded me that I needed to add this picture of him and Flo. Progressive Insurance had a great display at The Rally.  They were making custom t-shirts, which we skipped.  Cause really, how many t-shirts can one rv hold? But this….THIS….is cool. They had a cardboard cut-out of Flo, the spokesperson for progressive.  They would take 4 different pictures with you and her and Wallah! You now have a picture of you and Flo. I think it’s one of the better cut-outs we have seen. And David couldn’t...

The Rally In Louisville, Kentucky

Our Rig Among The Others In The Vendor Parking Area We made our way from Zanesville, Ohio to Louisville, Kentucky for “The Rally” put on by Good Sam. We signed up to be parked in the vendor parking area, as David does a lot of consulting with various vendors.  Parking there made things interesting as  we were parked on asphalt, during 90 degree days, in a black coach, on 30 amps of power.  For those of you who do not know, 30 amps of power would run a maximum of 2 air conditioners (out of 3).  Without turning on our fridge, as that is a residential fridge and only runs on electric, or anything else that is electric.  So on these hot hot days, we could only get our coach down to 80 degrees. Whisper Reading My Kindle As you can see, the cats were fine.  Whisper spent the days reading my Kindle and napping. The Rally In Louisville, KY New Coaches On Display At The Rally In Louisville, KY Dish Network was a major sponsor of this rally.  With David’s background in audio video and now an avid rver, he consulted with Dish on their new RV friendly “Pay As You Go” platform.  It was nice seeing Dish Network finally have a large presence at an rv rally. The rally itself was smaller than it has been in...
